would we even be talking about this if it was on Kyle Clifford?

Maybe, maybe not, hard to say.

My personal opinion of the elbow was that it was targeted, intent to injure was there and it was dirty. At the time, I thought 5 and a game was probably coming to him, but I think the refs were letting the teams play quite a bit last night with so much on the line.

He's had a fairly long leash so far this year, but I think this is the one that finally ends in some form of discipline

Would there be a hearing if it had been the other way around?

I don't remember Dotchin getting a hearing for doing the same thing to Tkachuk

If this is such a big deal (not saying it isn't) why doesn't the NHL give video reviews of egregious hits at least the same weight as questionable offside calls?

At first I thought the ref in the corner had a perfect view and decided not to call it meaning that it wasn't as bad as it seemed. Then from another angle I see he's inexplicably looking toward centre ice at that exact moment.

So why didn't the on ice officials look at a replay and eject him then and there?
Whether or not a player gets secondary disipline after the fact why wouldn't immediate ejection be the right thing to do? I just don't get it.

video reviews on penalties? The game would take an extra hour to complete.

I agree with Todd, I think the Flames will (and should) most likely look at extending Elliott this off season.

What do you guys think it would take to sign him/what would you like to see us sign him for?

I think I'd be okay with a 4x4 deal. He gets a raise, and that takes him until he's 35/36. He doesn't have a pile of miles on him so he has that going for him. I think he'd also be a solid 1b option for if/when one of our prospects take the starting role.

Look, Doughty is a chirper and a cry baby. I am not shocked someone rekt him, it was dirty it was intentional and he will get something for it. If he was smart he would have kept that hand in his stick and claimed it was a swipe at the puck.

My only regret is that he couldn't have gone over to the bench and done the same thing to Sutter. How the hell do you not give kempe second pp unit?

Think it's just a phone hearing, no details, but given that they were at home last night and in person hearings are in New York, I think they would have been specific if it was an in-person hearing.

Elliotte on the Fan this morning mentioned that this might be a good time to reign him in before playoffs, but that's a double edged sword as he'll need to avoid the potential for repeat offender tags...

All for the greasy plays, but he will have to be a little more careful now down the stretch

If Elliott maintains his level of play for the rest of the season, he's likely to be the goalie Vegas decides to overpay and the Flames will have to settle for Bishop or Fleury.

Elliott has been underpaid most of his career, and I doubt he's going to be looking at handing out any discounts this time around. Plus, he'll likely have a Stanley Cup ring, so it'll be time to pad the bank account.

Pretty blatant hit, but if its going to happen glad it was on Doughty.

Maybe Pronger does his old buddy a favor and goes easy on the kid.

Doughty saying it could have been for the way he played him earlier. Gotta love the fact that the 19 year old took matters into his own hands instead of waiting for an older teammate.
Hell be sitting out a game.

Flames dominated the Kings and basically punched their ticket last night...in early November who thought that was possible?

Elliott winning 11 straight is a pretty crazy stat

elbow? whatever...after years of being pushed around by the Kings I don't even care, it was worth a short suspension if that's what he gets. Doughty is the master of dirty stick work....although I do admire his miraculous recover lol

My bet is 2,000 fine. No injury and a lot of grey area with the hit. Player safety is a joke and I doubt they start taking their job seriously at this point in the season.

Love Tkachuk and I don't even really hate the hit ((frank) the Kings and (frank) Doughty ). He's still learning how to play with that edge, give him a few years and incidents like this will be few and far between.

I think it just happened. Dirty for sure but it wasn't premeditated and the intent to injure wasn't there IMO. If so it would have been much harder.
